A lightweight accountability tool helping solo founders follow through on meaningful work.

Product

To inform Wantra’s direction, I interviewed three solo founders on York University’s campus about how they manage to push through mundane tasks.

Investigating

Reviewing the collected data, I needed to paint a picture of the exact person I was solving for.

Narrowing

My goal wasn’t to help users plan better, it was to make follow-through inevitable by leveraging the pressure of being seen and making it dead, simple to use avoiding any friction in the UX process.

Design

I designed Wantra to feel as frictionless as possible. Knowing my users needed only a few key actions, I stripped every screen down to the essentials to minimize cognitive load.

Note

I leaned heavily on typographic hierarchy for clarity and focus, making each step easy to scan and act on. Every interaction was designed to feel quick with an exposed UI for fast check-ins users make during moments of procrastination.

Note

The dark mode aesthetic makes it ideal for those quiet, late-night work sessions.

Note

Users pick a few trusted peers, friends, or fellow builders who can poke or cheer them on. Tasks are made public by default inside your circle. You don’t want to be the one who disappears from the streak board or gets poked again by the same person.

Note

Wrapping up this project, I had many takeaways that I’m excited to apply to my next project. Here are some key lessons I learned.

Reflecting

Let’s chat over a coffee. I’d be happy to share more of what I’ve been working on.
